Using a customised variant of Snippet, we have created a client-fed directory site that allows them to update (via log-in, twitter, posterous, ping.fm, facebook, SMS or email!) news, events, offers, updates and specials.

We have found this is be a very servicable and customisable theme, albeit requiring a fast server environment.
